Engro operates Engro Powergen Qadirpur (EPQL), a 217 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant that innovatively utilizes low-BTU permeate gas, converting a previously flared and wasted resource into valuable energy. Additionally, it manages Engro Powergen Thar (EPTL), a 660 MW coal-based thermal power plant powered by indigenous lignite coal, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s energy independence and sustainability.
2005-09 Engro enters the energy business. EPQL was commissioned in 2009 with a 217 MW capacity Combined Cycle Power Plant using low BTU permeate gas.
2014-19 Engro commences groundwork on Thar Coal Project – Block II. EPTL achieved commercial operations for 2x 330MW coal-based thermal power plant.
