    polymers & petrochemicals manufacturing

Operating Engro Polymers & Chemicals (EPCL), Pakistan’s only fully integrated chlor-vinyl chemical complex producing polyvinyl chloride (PVC), caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, and hydrochloric acid. EPCL also operates and maintains a robust installed base of 36 MW electrolyzers, a critical component in green hydrogen production, showcasing 15 years of expertise in this technology.

The progress was complemented by multiple debottlenecking initiatives to expand production capacity through in-house engineering and collaboration with licensors.

1997-99 Engro enters a JV with Mitsubishi and Asahi Glass, to establish Engro Polymers & Chemicals and becomes the sole manufacturer of PVC in Pakistan.

2009-10 Relocated a VCM plant from the USA and achieved backward integration, becoming Pakistan’s only fully integrated PVC and allied chemicals facility, with a capacity of 150 KT/A PVC.

2014 Debottlenecked PVC production to 174 KT through in-house engineering and licensor support.

2017 Debottlenecked PVC production to 195 KT through in-house engineering with licensor support.

2021 Debottlenecked PVC production to 295 KT through in-house engineering and licensor support.

2022 Undertook efficiency enhancement projects with international licensors to develop a world-class facility. Initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) manufacturing facility.
